Just to begin the weekend well (we arrived Friday afternoon), the
"Viper Men" headed for the hotel where we were offered a barbecue; here, no
question of parking your own car, an appointed person drives your Viper to the reserved
garage (where I see 40 Vipers...) and possibly sees to the tuning of your V 10 by Chrysler
specialists equipped with a portable tuning work bench ! As regards the owners of the
"vintage" Chrysler, they didn't come behind the wheel, a 50 seater bus was to
transport them every time eating out was planned.
s
on display and the winning Viper at Le Mans 1998, as much food and beer you want, close
circuit TV so to be able to follow the races, a terrace overlooking the circuit. Amazing
or what ! Remember that once we paid the 1000 DM registration fee for 2 people, the
participants didn't have to spend a cent, sorry a pfennig, for anything else...
Outside, a good dozen Chrysler 300s and about half a dozen Imperials are on display. There are also other MoPars such as a 1929 Chrysler or a 1950 DeSoto. Three muscle cars, all powered by the legendary 426 hemi, show off their super powerful motorization. A little bit further on, a 1970 Dodge Charger Daytona (the sister of the Superbird) attracts the crowd: she beat the speed record at Talladega the 11/24/70 at over 201 mph and then at Bonneville at 218 mph !
